Hello Seattle

Grand and Glorious surreal views of majestic mountains passed in picturesque procession as I traversed the distance from a little piece of Norway (YWAM Montana) to the metropolis on the shores of the Puget sound.  An Owl City song I have come to like (introduced to me by a dear friend) is quite appropriate: Hello Seattle

The Miracle of America Museum

Situated quaintly the small town of Polson Montana is one man's lifetime collection of American history: The Miracle of America Museum.
A $5 admission fee opens the door to one of the most massive and complete collections of American culture I have ever seen.

First Stage

Huston we have a liftoff!  I blasted off from home Friday morning at 9 am in my Mercury Sable Capsule, to which  I have given the name "Freedom 7" after Allen Shepard's Spacecraft of 1961 (first American in Space).

God gave me smooth sailing all the way to Lakeside Montana!  On the way I got hit by flying ice chunks off of a truck, saw a coyote, some VERY FAT mule deer, an elk and a bald eagle!  Staying at the Youth With A Mission training base here where my buddy Karl is going to school.

When I strap my helmet on I'll be long gone

Praise to God Most High! Recently God provided a scrap job that has given me the funds I need to take this trip!  Now it is just the weather, hehe as is usual here in good old South Dakota.  Though it looks like I am not going to escape the cold!  My friends in San Diego have been scraping frost off their windshields in the mornings lately!
The next couple days will be filled with tuning a piano, a little more work on the car, last guitar lessons and then packing!  Tools, wood violin, clothes, food, BOOKS!!!  for once in my life i am excited about reading !

The title line is form a song I like that almost prophetically describes this trip :)

The Red Ball Express Heads West

For all those friends of mine who want to keep up with me on my trip out west this winter, I am going to post updates here. :)
Plans are moving ahead for my Dec 2 departure date, but a slight obstacle has come up. It is the little matter of nickels and dimes :P ... so basically at this point in time I dont have the money I need to buy gas the whole way and food too. :S
But i am trusting God for His direction and provision, if He wants me to go then money will be no object! :)
Stay tunes for photos videos and more!

Portal - Credits Song - Still Alive

From the computer game 'Portal' by Valve Corporation. It is a first-person shooter, science fiction puzzle. Portal is supposed to take place in the "Enrichment Center" for "Aperture Science," the research corporation responsible for the creation of the portal gun.

I find the song that plays during the end credits of the game to be very intriguing. First listen to the music without lyrics:

http://www.aperturescience.com/

The computer that you are fighting in the game sings:

>

This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
Aperture Science, We do what we must because we can.
For the good of all of us. Except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done. And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.
I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart and killed me.
And tore me to pieces. And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta. We're releasing on time. So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned for the people who are still alive.
Go ahead and leave me. I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you. Maybe Black Mesa,
THAT WAS A JOKE. HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
Anyway, this cake is great. It's so delicious and moist.
Look at me still talking when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
I've experiments to run. There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive. And believe me I am still alive.
I'm doing Science and I'm still alive. I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive.
While you're dying I'll be still alive. And when you're dead I will be still alive.
STILL ALIVE

The tune and style of the music is very cleverly chosen and presented to make it nostalgic to the players of the game as well as invoking a high emotion of triumph and a sense of accomplishment - and a feeling of fulfillment even to those who have not played the game. This is one of the incredible abilities of skilled music creation and delivery that has been developed to a very fine degree by producers of media today.

Besides the fact that the song is saturated with inside jokes and details related to other Value Corporation games, it is embedded with various dichotomies; such as "We do what we must because we can." and "As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!" and all this coming from the enemy in the game. At the end of the song the game itself seems to be saying that it will live forever.

I would like to discuss with follow Christians this subject of audio/visual media, how it affects our worldview, how it trains our emotions and affections and its eternal value and impact on the Kingdom of God.
